Folk & Fables is a boutique wedding music experience led by musician Dan Hopkinson and a small, trusted pool of exceptional musicians.
We cover the moments you'd expect; the ceremony, drinks, food, speeches and evening but we also look beyond the timetable. We explore your venue and find the little spaces where something unexpected could happen.

A musician first.
Folk & Fables was created by Dan Hopkinson — a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Norfolk.
Dan also makes music under the name Mount Hood, creating soft indie and alternative folk rooted in acoustic guitar, intimate vocals and atmospheric textures.
Before Mount Hood, Dan spent years working as a touring musician with previous bands, playing venues and festivals and learning the most important part of live music: how to read a room, connect with people and make a moment feel real.
That experience is at the heart of Folk & Fables. The musicians around Dan may change from wedding to wedding. The care, musicality and personality behind the experience stay the same.

Battery-powered PA systems mean we're not tied to one stage or one room. We can move through your venue and create music wherever the atmosphere calls for it.

A small musical family.
Folk & Fables is intentionally flexible. Sometimes it's just Dan. Sometimes it's a duo of Dan + one other musician. Sometimes the wedding calls for something much bigger.
Solo
Dan, acoustic guitar and voice. Intimate, personal and perfect for smaller celebrations or couples who want the focus on the songs.
Duo / small ensemble
Dan with another carefully chosen musician — perhaps fiddle, piano, percussion or harmony vocals. Sometimes this could even be Dan with his good friend and talented singer Tom Malachowski.
The big one
Dan + a multi-instrumentalist + strings. Bespoke arrangements, bigger moments and a truly cinematic Folk & Fables sound.

Moments worth remembering.
If you are looking for the most beautiful and unique addition to your big day, I could not recommend Dan more. Dan put together such a beautiful intimate set for us including covers of some of my favorite songs of all time. He put so much love and care into the set and even surprised me (the bride) with my name written into a song which he got everyone to sing.
Dan's set at our wedding was at the very end around a fire pit which was the most perfect way to end our special day, but what he provides could be magical for cocktail hour, dinner entertainment or even dreamy vocals as you walk down the aisle.
10/10 must have.
Dan made our wedding totally unique, special and very memorable. He orchestrated a moment that had the whole wedding (or what was left of it at 9pm!) around a fire pit and played our favourite songs. It was beyond words, really — and has been the main thing people remembered and took away from the wedding.
He balanced his natural charm and humour with the earnestness and magic of the situation and crafted the most perfect ending to our wedding. Even if we tried planning it, it would have never come out so perfect — Dan's instincts and talent knew exactly when to act and how to make a moment special.
We'd highly recommend him for anyone's special day.
